Japanese Radish Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce red radishes (large bunch)
  • 1 1/2 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds more or possibly less radish leaves garnish

Directions

  1. Wash the radishes well to remove all grit. Trim, reserving a few leaves for garnish, and thinly slice.
  2. Combine vinegar, sugar and soy and mix to dissolve sugar. Add in the radishes. Chill for 1 hour. When ready to serve, sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with radish leaves.
  3. Variation: Add in half a cucumber, peeled, seeded and diced.
  4. Serving Ideas : Relish for Shabu Shabu (Japanese warm pot) or possibly grilled fish or possibly chicken.
