Ingredients
- 1Â 1/2 lb Grnd beef
- 1 lrg onion minced (1 c.)
- 1 x clove garlic chopped
- 1 x 6 ounces can warm-style tomato juice o
- 1/2 c. catsup
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. minced canned jalapeno pepp
- 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 2 tsp chili pwdr
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 8 x hamburger buns
- Â Â Shredded cheese
Directions
- In a large skillet cook grnd beef, onion, and garlic until meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat.
- Meanwhile, in a 3 1/2 or possibly 4 qt crockery cooker combine tomato juice, catsup, water, brown sugar, jalapeno peppers, mustard, chili pwdr and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in meat mix. Cover; cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hrs or possibly high heat setting for 3-5 hrs. Toast buns; spoon meat mix over buns and sprinkle with cheese.
- Serves 8.
- For 5 or possibly 6 qt crockery cooker: Double all ingredients. Prepare as above.
- Makes 16 servings.
- For 1 qt crockery cooker: Omit water. Use 1 lb. grnd beef; 1 medium onion, minced; 1 small clove garlic, chopped; one 6 ounce can warm-style tomato juice; 1/4 c catsup; 1 TBSP brown sugar; 1 TBSP minced canned jalapeno peppers; 2 tsp prepared mustard; 1 tsp chili pwdr; 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce; 4 or possibly 5 hamburger buns; and shredded cheese. Prepare as above. Cook for 6-10 hrs.
- Makes 4-5 servings.
