  • 1 (1 lb.) box prunes, dry
  • 1/2 c. liquid from boiling prunes
  • 3/4 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 scant teaspoon cloves
  • 1/8 scant teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 c. coarsely minced walnuts

Directions

  1. Cook prunes per instructions on box, till tender. Cold and remove pits. Combine sugar, liquid and spices. Cook on low heat till syrupy, maybe 10-15 min.
  2. Pour over prunes and mix lightly, being careful not to further mash prunes. Chill covered. Add in nuts about 1 hour before serving. Can be made several days ahead.
