Ingredients
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 1/3 c. minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 (16 ounce.) can whole tomatoes, cut up
- 1 (16 ounce.) can tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoon chili pwdr
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (15 3/4 ounce.) can kidney beans
- 1 to 2 c. cooked rice
- 1 c. shredded Monterey Jack or possibly Cheddar cheese (4 ounce.)
- 1/2 c. minced onion, (optional)
- 1/2 c. lowfat sour cream, (optional)
Directions
- Cook beef, onion and garlic in large pan till beef is brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili pwdr, salt, red pepper and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 hour. Add in beans with chili sauce. Cover and simmer 30 min. Set out rice, cheese, onion and lowfat sour cream in small individual bowls for guests or possibly family members to serve themselves. For each serving, place some cooked rice in chili bowl. Top with chili mix then toppings. Make 4 to 6 servings.
