Ingredients

  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 1 c. all bran
  • 1 c. shredded wheat (crushed)
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar (white or possibly brown)
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 to 3/4 pound dates
  • 3/4 c. nutmeats

Directions

  1. Cook together oatmeal, all bran, shredded wheat and boiling water in a heavy pan till it is a paste consistency. Set aside.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add in the Large eggs one at a time. Blend in buttermilk.
  3. Blend together flour, soda, salt, buttermilk, dates and nuts with the sugar mix. Add in the paste mix. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 min.
