Directions

  1. Heat butter in medium saucepan. Add in onion and cook, stirring, till tender, about 5 min. Stir in flour, salt and pepper till blended. (Be very careful not to scorch.) Gradually stir in lowfat milk. Cook, stirring constantly, till mix boils and thickens.
  2. In 2-qt casserole layer half the potatoes, ham cubes and sauce. Repeat layers and sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered 45 min. Uncover and bake 15-20 min longer or possibly till potatoes are tender. Makes 4-6 servings.
