Gypsy Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French or possibly Italian bread
  • 1 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 sm. onion, minced
  • 1/3 to 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. chopped green pepper (optional)
  • 2 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry pwdr
  • 1/2 c. minced ripe olives

Directions

  1. Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise. Combine the rest of the ingredients into a smooth spreadable consistency. Spread on the bread and broil at least 6 inches from the heating unit till cheese melts.
  2. For Picnics: Prepare as directed. Heat and wrap foil then in several thicknesses of newspaper to keep hot for several hrs. Or possibly tote bread in the cooler chest and reheat it at the picnic location. Place foil wrapped loaf on a warm grill or possibly tuck it among the coals for a few min. Serves 4 to 6.
