Directions

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar; add in Large eggs and molasses; mix well. Sift flour and mix with salt, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Dredge the cut gum drops, raisins and nuts in dry ingredients and set aside. Add in applesauce to shortening mix and add in soda, then alternately add in the flour. Last mix in the dredged gum drops, raisins and nuts and fruit. Grease well two loaf pans. Bake for about 1 hour at 325 degrees or possibly till done.
