Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, "slightly rounded"
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 1/2 c. quick cooking oats
- 1/2 c. minced walnuts or possibly sm. size pkg. walnut chips
- 1/2 c. raisins or possibly 3/4 c.
- 1/2 c. chocolate chips (may add more)
Directions
- Cream together shortening (two sticks of butter), brown sugar, and Large eggs till fluffy. Stir in buttermilk. Sift together dry ingredients including 1/2 c. white sugar. Stir into creamed mix with 1 Tbsp. veg. oil. Stir in rolled oats, nuts, raisins and chocolate chips. Use 1 Tbsp. of batter to make balls. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees, about 12 min or possibly till slightly brown.
