Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 6 1/2 c. flour
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Sprinkle yeast over hot water in large bowl; stir till dissolved. Blend in sugar, salt, shortening, and egg. Add in 1/2 of the flour; beat well. Add in remaining flour and beat till smooth. Shape in a ball and place in a greased bowl. Turn over to bring greased side up. Cover and let rise in a hot place till twice its size. Punch dough down and let rise again. Then make into rolls and let rise till double in size. Bake 15-20 min. Butter tops as soon as removed from oven. Can be made and put in refrigerator and baked the next day.
