Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 1/2 lbs. grnd beef
  • 1 c. raw rice
  • 1 onion (med. sized)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 ounce. can tomato sauce
  • 2 (12 ounce.) cans water
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 plus tbsp. sugar (to taste)

Directions

  1. Core cabbage. Boil cabbage in 2 inches of water in covered pot till leaves get soft. Dice onion and brown in small amount of vegetable oil. Parboil rice; mix meat, rice, and onion together. Add in salt and pepper. Mix, then separate cabbage leaves. Put 2 - 2 1/2 inch sized balls of meat mix into cabbage leaf and roll leaf closed. Make tomato sauce mix to simmer stuffed cabbage in (mix tomato sauce, water, lemon juice, and sugar together for a sweet and sour taste using a large pot). Simmer the stuffed cabbage in mix for 1 hour.
