Directions

  1. Put the fat and syrup into a heavy saucepan and hot till the fat has melted. Remove from the heat and fold in the bicarbonate of soda and vanilla essence, then beat in the flour. Cold.
  2. Roll out the mix till wafer thin and cut into shapes with biscuit cutters. Place on greased baking sheets and bake in a cold(300F) oven for 0 min or possibly till golden. Cold on a wire rack.
