Glazed Figs With Mascarpone Cream Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 c. mascarpone cheese (500 mL)
  • 1/2 c. heavy cream (125 mL)
  • 2 Tbsp. icing sugar (30 mL) Glazed Figs
  • 1/2 c. orange juice (125 mL)
  • 1/4 c. balsamic vinegar (60 mL)
  • 1/4 c. sugar (60 mL)
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest (2 mL)
  • 1 pt fresh figs, halved (500 mL)
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, toasted and coarsely minced (125 mL)

Directions

  1. In an electric mixer whip the mascarpone till smooth.
  2. Continue whipping and slowly add in the cream in a steady stream.
  3. Add in the sugar and whip for 3 min.
  4. Glazed Figs:In a small pot combine the orange juice, balsamic vinegar, sugar and zest.
  5. Over high heat bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 5 min.
  7. Preheat the broiler.
  8. Toss the figs with the glaze and spread, cut side up, in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  9. Cook under the broiler for 6 to 8 min, till lightly caramelized.
  10. Serve the hot figs with the mascarpone cream and toasted walnuts.
