While this is a large batch of cookies, it can be halved easily.
The cookies are lightly crisp on the outside and chewy delicious on the inside.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 pkg (4 oz.) German Sweet Chocolate, melted and cooled
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp water
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 6 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups English toffee bits or almond brickle chips
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, and both of the sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the chocolate
- Add the eggs, one at a time
- Beat well after each addition
- Beat in the water and vanilla
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture
- Stir in the toffee bits and walnuts
- Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets
- Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
- Remove to wire racks to cool
