General Tso’s Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • Adapted from Food & Wine via Cook Like a Champion
  • 1.5 tsp. toasted sesame oil
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce, divided
  • 7 Tbsp. corn starch, divided
  • 1 lb. boneless/skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-2″ pieces
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tsp. Chinese chili garlic sauce (I used Sambal Oelek instead, and upped the amount a little)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • Neutral oil (vegetable, canola, etc.)
  • 2 Tbsp. minced ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced, green & white parts separated
