Ingredients

  • 2 stk butter or possibly margarine softened Or possibly 1 stick butter or possibly maragarine - , softened and 4 ounce. butter flavor vegetable - (i.e. Crisco ) shortening Or possibly 1 stick butter or possibly margarine softened and 4 ounce extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 x or possibly more large garlic cloves chopped or possibly fine copped
  • 1 tsp dry basil
  • 1 tsp dry oregano
  • 1 tsp dry parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp fresh coarse grnd black pepper
  • 1/4 c. fresh grated parmesan cheese Optional (or possibly to taste )

Directions

  1. Mix all into a smooth paste. Cover and chill any leftovers. The spread is also great to mix into warm pasta!
  2. Slice cooled loaves (see recipe: Italian Bread (for Great Garlic Bread)) in half. Spread garlic mix proportionately on top and bottom of loaves. Place pcs together to reform loaf. Wrap in foil. Place in 350F oven to heat 20 min. To get a real crisp crust, partially open the tops of the foil covered bread while reheating.
