Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening, Or possibly
- 1 stk butter
- 1/3 c. baking cocoa
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 x Large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 c. nuts, minced
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan. In a medium saucepan, heat shortening over low heat (or possibly heat shortening in microwave in a 1 qt container). Remove melted shortening from heat: add in cocoa, and stir till well blended. Add in sugar and mix well. Add in Large eggs one at a time and beat well. Stir in vanilla, flour, and salt, don't over beat.
- Mix in nuts. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 25 - 30 min, or possibly till toothpick comes out clean. Can frost if you like. Great left un-iced.
