It is a easy to make no fail dessert and a big hit with the guys of all ages!
Goes great with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups berries or other fruit, seasonal, canned or frozen. (drained)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened) you can substitute 1/4 cup applesauce for 1/4 cup of the butter for a lower fat version.
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 - 2/3 cup milk (If batter is too thick to spread easily add a little more)
  • Topping:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions

  1. Place fruit in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Mix: batter ingredients and spread over top of berries or other fruit.
  3. Do not mix berries and batter.
  4. Combine: dry topping ingredients and distribute evenly over batter.
  5. Pour boiling water over top of batter & topping mixture.
  6. Bake@350 for 1 hour
  7. This recipe can be easily doubled using a larger baking dish.
  8. No time adjustment seems necessary.
