Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 9 T of sugar
- 3 c. lowfat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Caramel (see below)
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. boiling water
Directions
- Beat large eggs sufficient to mix yolks and whites. Add in sugar, lowfat milk, salt and vanilla. Pour caramel (see recipe on bottom) in heat proof custard cups. Coat bottom and all sides of cups with caramel. Pour in custard mix. Set the cups in a pan with hot water and bake in oven at 350 degrees for an hour or possibly till hard.
- Heat sugar over a low heat. Stir to prevent burning of sugar: when it has melted to a light brown syrup, add in the boiling water and simmer for short time. Strain.
