Famous Kugel From Aunt Sue Recipe

Ingredients

  • I was cleaning out my recipe files yesterday and came across this great recipe from a friend. My friend got the recipe from a book of family favorites which her MIL combine--a great way to preserve family traditions!
  • 1 lb broad egg noodles, cooked, rinsed, and liquid removed
  • 1 pt lowfat sour cream
  • 1 lb container small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 lrg package cream cheese (8 ounce)
  • 6 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. butter, melted
  • 1 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract Cinnamon to taste Raisins to taste (golden brown raisins are best)

Directions

  1. Heat half the butter in a 9 x 13 inch pan. In a mixer, combine the Large eggs, sugar, the remainder of the melted butter, cream cheese, cinnamon, and vanilla. When mixed, add in cottage cheese and lowfat sour cream. Blend thoroughly, then add in cooked and liquid removed noodles to the mix. Pour into baking pan, sprinkle more cinnamon on top, and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
  2. Comments: It doesn't hurt the taste of the kugel at all to substitute Egg Beaters, non-fat cottage cheese and lowfat sour cream, etc.
