Throughout our military career I have collected a number of favorite recipes from friends and family members that stand out. This is one of them. 8/229th Flying Tiger's Ellen Cerney always made these incredible brownies for family day/bake sales/ mailing to soldiers etc. Ellen...I SALUTE YOU because these are without a doubt the best brownies EVER. Soldiers worldwide thank you for sharing your recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 c sugar
- 1 1/2 c butter- melted
- 1 T vanilla
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 c all purpose flour
- 1 c cocoa powder
- 1 t baking powder
- 1 t salt
- 1/2 t cayenne pepper (I added this to Ellen's original recipe)
- 1 bag chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Lightly grease 9x13 pan
- Cut parchment paper to line bottom for easiest removal.
- In mixing bowl beat melted butter with sugar and vanilla.
- Mix in eggs, 1 or 2 at a time until well incorporated and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt and cayenne.
- Add dry ingredients to wet slowly mixing well.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spoon into greased baking pan.
- Bake 40-45 minutes.
- Cool completely before cutting.
