%20I%20ever%20pursued%20a%20career%20in%20food.%20Because%20while%20most%20kids%20were%20flipping%20through%20comic%20books%20at%20the%20kitchen%20table,%20I%20was%20flipping%20through%20Ina%E2%80%99s%20cookbooks.%20To%20this%20day,%20the%20entire%20set%E2%80%94from%20The%20Barefoot%20Contessa%20Cookbook%20to%20Barefoot%20Contessa%20Foolproof%E2%80%94sits%20on%20my%20kitchen%20counter.%20I%20even%20stood%20in%20line%20for%20two%20hours%20once%20to%20snap%20a%20photo%20with%20her.%20Ina%E2%80%99s%20just%20that%20kind%20of%20gal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20when%20last%20Sunday%20morning%20rolled%20around%20and%20I%20was%20craving%20something%20seriously%20sweet%20and%20satisfying,%20I%20knew%20sticky%20buns%20were%20in%20my%20future.%20But%20all%20that%20yeast%20%E2%80%A6%20and%20kneading%20%E2%80%A6%20and%20proofing%20%E2%80%A6%20and%20rolling.%20I%20needed%20a%20sticky%20bun,%20and%20I%20needed%20it%20before%20November.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrior%20to%20discovering%20this%20recipe,%20I%20always%20thought%20the%20phrase%20%E2%80%9Ceasy%20sticky%20buns%E2%80%9D%20was%20an%20oxymoron.%20But%20as%20it%20turns%20out,%20two%20sheets%20of%20store-bought%20puff%20pastry,%20a%20handful%20of%20chopped%20pecans%20and%20a%20few%20slices%20of%20thick-but%20bacon,%20and%20suddenly%20I%20was%20in%20business.%20Best%20of%20all,%20the%20bacon%20is%20surrounded%20by%20brown%20sugar-whipped%20butter,%20which%20results%20in%20candied%20bacon.%20And%20I%20know%20we%20all%20have%20a%20thing%20for%20candied%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20thank%20you,%20Ina,%20for%20inspiring%20me%20while%20simultaneously%20preventing%20me%20from%20fitting%20into%20my%20pants.%20Please%20don%E2%80%99t%20hesitate%20to%20call%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20ever%20in%20need%20of%20a%20girls%E2%80%99%20weekend%20in%20the%20Hamptons.%20I%E2%80%99m%20but%20a%20train%20ride,%20and%20a%20hot%20pan%20of%20bacon-studded%20sticky%20buns,%20away.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEasy%20Sticky%20Buns%20with%20Bacon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20400%C2%BAF.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20bacon%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20a%20majority%20of%20the%20fat%20has%20rendered.%20Using%20a%20slotted%20spoon,%20transfer%20the%20cooked%20bacon%20to%20a%20paper%20towel-lined%20plate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20bowl%20of%20a%20stand%20mixer%20fitted%20with%20the%20paddle%20attachment,%20cream%20together%2012%20tablespoons%20(1%201/2%20sticks)%20butter%20with%201/3%20cup%20light%20brown%20sugar%20until%20light%20and%20fluffy,%20about%202%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20the%20butter%20mixture%20between%20the%20cups%20of%20a%20nonstick%2012-cup%20muffin%20pan.%20Divide%20the%20chopped%20pecans%20and%20cooked%20bacon%20between%20the%20cups,%20sprinkling%20them%20on%20top%20of%20the%20butter.%20(See%20Kelly's%20Notes.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELightly%20flour%20your%20work%20surface.%20Unfold%20one%20sheet%20of%20puff%20pastry%20onto%20the%20surface%20with%20the%20folds%20opening%20left%20to%20right.%20Brush%20the%20whole%20sheet%20of%20pastry%20with%20half%20of%20the%20melted%20butter%20then%20sprinkle%20it%20with%20half%20of%20the%20light%20brown%20sugar%20and%20half%20of%20the%20cinnamon.%20Starting%20at%20the%20bottom%20edge%20(closest%20to%20you),%20tightly%20roll%20up%20the%20pastry%20ending%20with%20the%20seam%20side%20down.%20Trim%20and%20discard%20the%20two%20ends%20then%20cut%20the%20roll%20into%206%20equal%20pieces,%20about%201%201/2%20inches%20wide.%20Place%20each%20piece,%20spiral%20facing%20up,%20in%20each%20of%20six%20muffin%20cups.%20Repeat%20the%20filling,%20rolling%20and%20slicing%20process%20with%20the%20second%20sheet%20of%20puff%20pastry%20to%20make%2012%20sticky%20buns.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20muffin%20pan%20on%20a%20baking%20sheet%20lined%20with%20parchment%20paper%20(to%20catch%20any%20overflow)%20and%20bake%20the%20sticky%20buns%20on%20the%20center%20rack%20for%2025%20to%2030%20minutes%20until%20the%20buns%20are%20golden%20brown%20and%20firm%20to%20the%20touch.%20Remove%20the%20sticky%20buns%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20them%20to%20cool%20in%20the%20pan%20for%205%20minutes%20only,%20then%20invert%20the%20pan%20onto%20the%20parchment%20paper-lined%20baking%20sheet,%20scraping%20out%20any%20topping%20from%20the%20cups.%20Let%20the%20buns%20cool%20slightly%20then%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKelly's%20Notes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20important%20that%20you%20sprinkle%20the%20chopped%20pecans%20and%20bacon%20on%20top%20of%20the%20butter%20mixture%20in%20each%20muffin%20pan%20so%20that%20they%20do%20not%20burn%20while%20baking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDo%20not%20let%20the%20sticky%20buns%20cool%20for%20longer%20than%205%20minutes%20in%20the%20pan%20or%20the%20topping%20will%20become%20too%20hard%20and%20not%20release%20along%20with%20the%20buns%20when%20you%20invert%20the%20muffin%20pan%20onto%20the%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
