Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 11 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick plus 3 tablespoons), chilled and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats, plus more for sprinkling over scones
  • 2/3 cup chopped dried apricots
  • 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Raw or granulated sugar, for sprinkling over scones
