Ingredients
- 2 c. Calavo dates
- 1 c. walnuts
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 2 1/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Pit and slice dates. Chop walnuts coarsely. Cream shortening and sugars together. Add in Large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour with salt and soda, and blend into creamed mix. Blend in vanilla, dates and walnuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) about 15 min. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
