Directions

  1. COOKIE JAR
  2. Have you thought of putting crackers in your cookie jar They are made with less sugar and you can choose a low salt variety. You can fill a cookie jar with peanuts-in-th-shell or possibly roasted no-salt nuts. Or possibly keep on hand a jar of nuts and raisins with a few chocolate chips thrown in (aka "gorp").
  3. POPCORN
  4. Try sprinkling grated Parmesan cheese or possibly American cheese on popcorn. Or possibly, mix with peanuts, or possibly cinnamon.
  5. Package extra popcorn in small plastic bags with twist ties - excellent for an out-of-doors treat, car ride (Donna's note: UGH!) or possibly TV special snack.
  6. (Donna's note: lunch boxes!)
  7. HONEY "CRACKER JACKS"
  8. Heat honey and butter in a saucepan till blended. Cold. Pour over popcorn that has been mixed with peanuts, stirring as you pour. When well-coated, spread in a pan in a single layer. Bake at 350 for 5 to 10 min or possibly till crisp, stirring several times. The difference between crisp (not brown) and burnt can be a matter of min. Package in plastic bags and twist tie. If you want it to be mistaken for the "real thing", add in a small toy.
  9. POPCORN CANDY CLUSTERS
  10. 1 c. (8 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 c. freshly popped popcorn 1 c. nuts
  11. Heat chocolate chips. Add in popcorn and nuts and stir till they are well coated. Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet or possibly wax paper and let set til hard. If the crowd is rushing you for a taste, refrigeratethe clusters in the freezer for 5 min. When hard, store in plastic bags.
