Ingredients
- 2 lb Stewing beef cubed
- Â Â Seasoned flour
- 1 x Onion thinly sliced
- 4 ounce Mushrooms sliced
- 1 x 10 ounce can beef/oxtail
- Â Â soup or possibly
- 1/2 pt Beef stock
- Â Â Salt and pepper
- Â Â Dry mixed herbs (opt)
- Â Â Oil or possibly lard for frying
Directions
- Coat the meat with the flour. Saute/fry the onion in the oil and transfer to the slow cooker. Brown the meat and place on top of the onions. Add in the mushrooms and herbs, then pour over the soup or possibly stock, and cook on High for 4 - 5 hrs or possibly on Low for 8 - 10 hrs.
- Any beef casserole can be adapted for the slow cooker, remembering which less liquid is needed than with conventional cooking, and the vegetables must be placed in the bottom of the crockpot with the meat on top.
