Ingredients
- 2 c. Quaker Oats, uncooked (quick or possibly old-fashioned)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 3 1/2 c. Water
- 1/2 c. Finely-minced cooked ham Or possibly- crumbled cooked bacon liquid removed
Directions
- Stir oats into briskly boiling salted water. Cook 1 minute for quick oats, stirring occasionally. Cook 5 min or possibly longer for old fashioned oats. Cover pan, remove from heat and let stand 5 min. Stir in ham or possibly bacon.
- Pour into ungreased 8-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 2-1/2" loaf pan. Cold slightly.
- Cover and chill several hrs or possibly overnight. Cut into 16 slices.
- Pan-fry in small amount of butter till golden, about 10 min per side. Serve warm with butter and syrup.
