Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

My friend Annie asked if I would post this recipe to go along with my “Better Than Sex Brownies Recipe” I recently posted. When I do frost these brownies this is the frosting I use it makes the treat that much more sinful. The best thing about this frosting is that there are so many possibilities & ways you can use this confectioners delight! I have added zing flavor, zest, jazzed up, or just plain out pizazz (to simplify things :) too much do u think?) I have added things from cocoa to different fruits depending on what exactly I was spreading it on? So Sinful dessert lovers get prepared this will be one you will want to use over & over after you have tried it. Blissful Indulging -MBC

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Make sure your butter, Crisco & cream cheese are room temp.
  2. Place milk in a liquid measuring cup with a spout or anything you have with a spout.
  3. Place the butter in a mixer & mix well so you see no "lumps" just smooth texture.
  4. Next add the Crisco blend with the butter till also very smooth.
  5. Finally add the cream cheese and blend until VERY smooth these steps can take very long but necessary for top-quality frosting.
  6. Scrap the bowl several times during initial mixing too help in blending the ingredients.
  7. Add the salt & vanilla mix.
  8. Slowly add a small portion of confectioners & 1 T milk while mixing.
  9. Continue to alternate sugar & milk while NEVER stopping the mixer until all has been added.
  10. This is where you will add food coloring if you chose too.
  11. Continue to mix & scrap the bowl for at least 3-5min longer if need to have smooth rather then lumpy frosting.
  12. Pleasurable Spreading-MBC

My personal favorite cake is a good carrot cake - and your Cream Cheese Frosting is excellent. I candied orange zest for the bling. Very well done, mb! - Amos

By the way, I forgot to mention that Butter-Flavored Crisco is GREAT for baking, and especially good to butter your oven ware and baking pans - you get that almost-lard quality to the outer crust, it has just enough 'butter' stuff to give it a touch of flavor and it withstands higher temperatures than regular butter. Great to see it suggested and used - I use it all the time.

Thanks Claudia this is a super creamy frosting with oodles of potential for different dessert. If you do want to use it for carrot cake (which I do & have a great recipe handed down for generations) I suggest you omit 1 T of vanilla extract & replace with 1 T of coconut extract and at the end when you would add food coloring add fresh coconut flakes. Also as a topper after you frost the cake toast some fresh coconut to add a great contrast & intensify the look of your masterpiece. Happy Baking-MBC :)
