Ingredients
- Fold in pecans, preferably from Louisiana
- Pour pecan pie mixture into prepared pie shell
- Connecticut Moonshine Pecan Pie
- Ingredients:
- 1 prepared pie shell, uncooked
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
- 1/4 cup molasses
- pinch of kosher salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cups pecan halves (although we'd reduce this to 2 cups next time)

,%20it%20came%20out%20pretty%20good.%20We've%20had%20some%20baking%20fails%20in%20the%20past,%20and%20while%20this%20wasn't%20the%20perfect%20pecan%20pie,%20we%20wouldn't%20count%20it%20among%20the%20%22fails.%22%20In%20addition%20to%20the%20uniqueness%20of%20the%20moonshine%20in%20this%20recipe,%20you'll%20also%20notice%20we%20added%20some%20nutmeg,%20since%20CT%20is%20the%20Nutmeg%20State.%20It%20was%20sweet%20and%20rich,%20nutty%20and%20flavorful,%20with%20hints%20of%20vanilla,%20and%20a%20depth%20that%20we%20think%20came%20from%20the%20moonshine.%20If%20it%20can%20be%20done%20with%20bourbon,%20it%20can%20be%20done%20with%20moonshine!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20butter%20and%20combine%20with%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecorn%20syrup,%20molasses%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoil%20until%20frothy%20with%20a%20caramel%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20together%20eggs,%20vanilla,%20Moonshine%20and%20nutmeg.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELay%20pie%20shell%20into%20greased%20pie%20plate%20and%20prick%20it%20all%20over%20with%20a%20fork.%20Melt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%20Add%20the%20corn%20syrup,%20molasses%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt%20and%20cook%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20it%20boils%20and%20becomes%20frothy%20and%20has%20a%20caramel-like%20consistency.%20Set%20aside%20to%20cool%20slightly.%20In%20a%20separate%20bowl,%20beat%20the%20eggs.%20Add%20the%20vanilla,%20moonshine%20and%20nutmeg%20and%20beat%20to%20combine.%20Add%20a%20small%20amount%20(about%201/4%20cup)%20of%20the%20caramel%20into%20the%20eggs%20and%20stir%20to%20temper%20the%20eggs.%20Slowly%20add%20the%20remainaing%20caramel%20mixture%20into%20the%20eggs%20and%20combine%20well.%20Fold%20in%20the%20pecans%20and%20pour%20the%20pecan%20pie%20mixture%20into%20the%20prepared%20shell.%20Protect%20the%20crust%20with%20pie%20shields%20and%20bake%20at%20350%20for%20about%20one%20hour.%20Let%20cool%20before%20serving,%20preferably%20with%20a%20dollop%20of%20freshly%20whipped%20cream%20(of%20which%20we,%20sadly,%20had%20none).%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
