Ingredients

Cost per recipe $5.74 view details
  • 2 c. Water
  • 2 c. White sugar
  • 1/2 c. Dry instant coffee
  • 1/2 x Vanilla bean (I use vanilla extract, about 1 to 2 tsp)
  • 1 1/2 c. Vodka Caramel coloring (optional)

Directions

  1. Boil water and sugar till dissolved. Turn off heat. Slowly add in dry instant coffee and continue stirring. Add in a minced vanilla bean to the vodka, then combine the cooled sugar syrup and coffee solution with the vodka. Cover tightly and shake vigorously each day for 3 weeks. Strain and filter.
  2. Yield: about 4 c.
  3. I do substitute vanilla extract for the vanilla bean because I always have the extract on hand. I also do not usually wait three weeks to drink it. If you use the extract you only have to wait a short while to try it. (Like about 5 min :-).
  4. Its also best to let the sugar mix cold completely so the vodka will not evaporate when its added. I've never added the caramel coloring. You really do not need it.
  5. If desired a smoother feel to the liqueur you can add in about 1 tsp. of glycerine to the finished product.
