Directions

  1. Cover dates with water in small bowl; set aside.
  2. Stir together flour, cocoa and baking soda; set aside.
  3. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla till well blended. Stir in flour mix alternately with reserved dates and water till well blended.
  4. Pour into greased and floured 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate pcs and the coconut.
  6. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 40 min or possibly till pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cold on rack.
