Chocolate Buttermilk Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 x Large eggs
  • 2 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 c. minced nuts
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk Chocolate Glaze, (see Frosting section) Mix flour with baking soda, set aside.

Directions

  1. Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and salt till fluffy.
  2. Beat in Large eggs one at a time till well blended.
  3. Stir in chocolate and nuts.
  4. Stir in flour mix alternately with buttermilk till smooth and well blended.
  5. Pour into greased and floured 9x9x2 inch baking pan.
  6. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 35 min or possibly till pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cold on rack.
  8. Pour hot chocolate glaze on cake the spread with spatula and let set.
