Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 2 pound beef chuck or possibly round steak
- 2 tbsp. chopped onions
- 1/2 c. celery, cut Chinese style
- 2 lg. green pepper strips
- 2 tbsp. minced pimento
- 1/2 c. beef stock
- Salt & pepper
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
Directions
- Heat shortening, add in beef and brown. Pour off any fat, add in onions, celery, green pepper and pimento. Add in beef stock, salt and pepper, cover tightly. Cook slowly 20 min. Thicken with cornstarch and little water. Serve over rice.
- NOTE: Can add in bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and mushrooms.
