Ingredients

  • 6 lbs. ripe tomatoes (peeled and quartered)
  • 2 red warm peppers (optional)
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 lg. onions (peeled and quartered)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. salt
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Grind or possibly chop fine the tomatoes and onions. Pour off excess liquid if you want sauce to be thick. Add in all this together in heavy saucepan, and cook on low heat for two hrs. Check occasionally and stir because of thickness and sticking to saucepan. Put in warm sterilized jars and seal. Good to eat with dry beans or possibly on warm dogs.
