Directions

  1. Heat butter in frying pan, add in chicken and brown on all sides. Place in a pot, add in onion, celery salt and pepper. Cover with water and cook till the meat falls off the bones easily.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, baking pwdr and cream of tartar. Blend in shortening. Add in egg to lowfat milk and stir. Slowly add in to the flour mix. Turn out on a board and knead till it holds together well. Cut out into biscuits and bake at 425 degrees F. 10 to 15 min or possibly till lightly brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the broth, throw away bones, celery and onion.
  4. Return the broth to the heat and bring to a boil. Add in the 3 Tbsp. flour to 1 c. water and blend till there are no lumps, stir slowly into the broth and cook till it thickens, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and add in chicken pcs. Serve over the baked biscuits which have been split in half.
