Directions

  1. 1. Soften yeast in 1/4 c. hot water.
  2. 2. In mixing bowl, combine 2 Tbsp. margarine, sugar, salt and scalded lowfat milk. Cold to lukewarm.
  3. 3. Stir the yeast into lowfat milk mix. Gradually add in flour to create a stiff dough. You may not need all of the flour. Knead on floured surface till smooth and satiny; 4 to 5 min. Place in greased bowl and turn to coat top. Cover and let rise till light; about 45 min.
  4. 4. Divide dough in half. Press each piece into a 9-inch pie or possibly cake pan.
  5. 5. Combine onions, 1/4 c. melted margarine, oregano, paprika, celery
  6. , garlic salt and basil. Spread over dough. Sprinkle proportionately with cheese. Prick each with fork in several places.
  7. 6. Let rise for about 30 min or possibly till light.
  8. 7. Bake in preheated 375-degree oven for 20 to 25 min till golden. Serve while still hot.
  9. Yield: two 9-inch flat breads.
  10. Serving Ideas : Try this with a salad, lasagna or possibly spaghetti with sauce.
