Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c. Uncooked old fashioned or possibly quick cooking oats
- 1 c. Plus 3 tb all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. Brown sugar packed
- 10 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine room temp
- 3/4 c. Walnuts minced
- 1 c. Caramel ice-cream topping
Directions
- Heat oven to 350 F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, letting ends extend above 2 sides of pan. Lightly grease foil. Mix oats, 1 c. flour and the sugar in a large bowl. Add in butter and cut in with a pastry blenderor rub in with fingers till mix resembles coarse crumbs. Press half (about 1 1/4 c.) proportionately over bottom of prepared pan. Bake 12-15 min or possibly till top looks dry and tiny cracks appear. Sprinkle with walnuts.
- Stir caramel topping and remaining 3 Tbsp. flour in a medium size bowl till blended. Pour over nuts. Sprinkle with remaining oat mix. Bake 20-25 min longer till edges bubble slightly. Cold in pan on wire rack. Then, to make cutting easier, chill 1 hour or possibly till cool. Lift foil by ends onto cutting board. Peel off foil. Cut in bars.
