Caramel Layer Chocolate Square Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pkt (14 ounce.) caramel candy
  • 2/3 c. Evaporated lowfat milk
  • 1 pkt German chocolate cake mix or possibly just chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. Melted margarine
  • 1 c. Minced nuts
  • 1 pkt (6 ounce.) semi-sweet Chocolate pcs

Directions

  1. Step 1: Combine caramels and 1/3 c. lowfat milk in a double boiler. Cook over warm water till melted. Step 2: Combine cake mix, butter, remaining 1/3 c. of lowfat milk and nuts in a large mixing bowl. Mix well. Step 3: Press half the mix into a well greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Reserve remaining dough for topping. Step 4: Bake for 6 min at 350 degrees.
  2. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate pcs. Spread caramel mix proportionately over chocolate pcs. Crumble remaining dough over caramel mix.
  3. Return to oven and bake for 15 to 18 min at 350 degrees.
