Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. Finely-minced walnuts mixed with
  • 1/4 c. Flour and
  • 3/4 tsp Grnd cinnamon and also
  • 1 pch Salt
  • 4 Tbsp. Chilled butter
  • 4 slc Dry out egg, brioche or possibly challah bread crusts removed, and cut into 3/4" cubes
  • 1/3 c. Melted butter
  • 1 c. Raisins soaked in Rum, Port or possibly Cognac
  • 4 x Granny Smith or possibly Golden brown Delicious apples peeled, cored, quartered and sliced Vanilla ice cream or possibly whipped cream for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly butter a 9-inch-square baking pan.
  2. Cut the chilled butter into the walnut and cinnamon flour, with a pastry blender or possibly fork till it is like coarse crumbs; set aside.
  3. Drizzle melted butter over cubed bread to coat, then toss with apples and raisins.
  4. Transfer apples and bread to a baking dish and top with walnut flour topping; bake for 45 min or possibly till crisp. Serve warm or possibly hot with ice cream.
  5. This recipe yields 6 servings.
  6. Comments: If you are starting out with fresh bread, then dry it out first in an oven.
