Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed firmly
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. minced nuts (walnuts or possibly pecans)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Cream shortening and brown sugar together till light. Stir in egg, then add in sifted dry ingredients. Add in nuts and vanilla and blend thoroughly. Place mix on waxed paper and form in a roll. Roll up in waxed paper and refrigerate for several hrs or possibly overnight till hard sufficient to cut.Slice with sharp knife into thin slices (1/8 inch). Bake in moderately hot oven (400 degrees) for 8 to 10 min. Yields: 5-6 dozen cookies. Don't overbake.
