Buttermilk Cheese 'N' Egg Bread

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 lrg egg plus
  • 1 x egg yolk
  • 3 c. bread flour - (to 3 1/2 c.)
  • 1/8 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast - (to 2 tspns)
  • 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese in 1/4" dice see * Note

Directions

  1. Note: Cut cheese into 1/4" size dice and keep in a container in the freezer till ready to add in to dough.
  2. Place all ingredients, except cheese, in the bread pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer. Process on the Dough cycle.
  3. Add in diced cheese at Add Beeps; but don't let machine complete the cycle - stop the machine, once all the cheese is incorporated. Then let the dough r Rise again and bake large 9- by 5-inch loaf, or possibly 12- by 4-inch loaf, or possibly 8 generous rolls in 325 degree oven - 40 min for loaves or possibly 25 min for rolls. Higher oven temperature will overbrown this dough. Cold completely on rack.
  4. This recipe yields a 1 1/2 lb. loaf.
  5. Yield: 1 loaf
