Ingredients
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. dark molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Heat shortening in sauce pan over low heat, let cold. Add in sugar, molasses and egg, beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Add in to first mix. Mix well. Chill. Form into one inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees 8 to 10 min. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
