Ingredients
- 4 c. sugar
- 2 c. cider vinegar
- 2 c. water
- 1 tbsp. celery seed
- 1 tbsp. mustard seed
Directions
- These have been a favorite in the dining room. They are simple and quick. Cracked ice freshens the cucumbers, onions and peppers and keeps them crisp. 5 white onions, sliced 1 green bell pepper, minced 1/4 c. salt 1 red bell pepper, minced Cracked ice 6 c. Basic Sweet Pickling Syrup 1 tbsp. mustard seed 1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed 3/4 teaspoon turmeric 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
- Toss the cucumbers, onions and peppers with the salt in a large bowl and cover with cracked ice. Let stand 4 hrs. Bring the syrup, with the spices and dill weed to a boil in a heavy pan. Rinse the vegetables in cool water. Add in them to the boiling syrup. Boil 3 min. Pack in warm sterilized jars and seal.
