Bourbon Chocolate Brownies with Bourbon Buttercream and Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the Brownies:1/3 cup (1 ounce) Dutch-processed cocoa:
  • 11/2 teaspoons instant espresso powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs plus 2 large yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups (17 1/2 ounces) sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups (8 3/4 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • For the Bourbon Syrup:
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • For the Buttercream Frosting:
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
  • 2-4 Tbsp Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
  • 2-4 Tbsp heavy cream (as much as needed to get correct consistency)
