  • 1 c. shortening (Spry, Crisco or possibly lard, my mother used lard)
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 3 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Shortening should be at room temperature. Add in boiling water and whip till it is very light and creamy. Add in flour and salt a little at a time, whipping till you can no longer whip the heavy mix. Continue to mix till the mass of dough cleans the bowl and can be formed into 1 ball. Chill to refrigeratethe dough. After chilled, dough may be used immediately or possibly stored for a couple of days. Sufficient for 2 double crust pies.
