Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast, 1 tsp. sugar and c. of hot water, stand 5 min. Combine remaining sugar, salt, butter and shortening in large bowl. Add in boiling water, stir till butter and shortening heat. Cold slightly, then add in dissolved yeast and stir well. Add in Large eggs and 3 c. flour, beating at medium speed till smooth, gradually add in remaining flour, stirring well to make a soft dough.
  2. Place in a well greased bowl, turning to grease top of dough. Cover and let rise in hot place, free from draft for 1 1/2 hrs or possibly till double. Punch down and turn onto a well floured surface and knead several times. Shape into 2 inch balls and place in 3 (9 inch) well greased pans. Cover and let rise in hot place 30 to 40 min or possibly doubled. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 min till golden.
