Beignets (French Market Beignets) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pkt Dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. Hot water
  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 x Egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. Salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
  • 1 c. Canned evaporated lowfat milk don't substitute
  • 3 3/4 c. Flour

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in hot water. Add in beaten egg, sugar, salt, oil and evaporated lowfat milk. Pour all liquid into flour, and mix well. Refrigerateovernight
  2. (a MUST).
  3. Roll out next day on a well-floured board to 1/3-inch thick or possibly more. Cut into squares with a knife. Fry in at least 2 inches of oil till brown on both sides. Dust with powdered sugar.
  4. Wis/Gramma.
  5. Groups: Fast, Frzn, Microwaved and Junk
