Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound grnd beef
  • 1 med. onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 c. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. molasses
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 (6 ounce.) pkg. frzn Chinese pea pods
  • 1 (5 ounce.) can water chestnuts, liquid removed and sliced
  • 1 (5 ounce.) can bamboo shoots, liquid removed and sliced
  • 1 (11 ounce.) can mandarin oranges, liquid removed (reserve liquid)

Directions

  1. Cook and stir meat, onion, garlic in large skillet till meat is brown. Drain. Mix soy sauce, cornstarch, molasses and stir into meat mix. Stir in bouillon, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and reserved mandarin orange syrup. Heat to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 10 min, stirring occasionally. Stir in oranges. Cover and beat 2 min. Serve over rice. Serves 6-8.
