  • 2 c. Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Pwdr
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 c. Sugar

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt & baking pwdr. Layer mix and other ingredients in order given in a 1 qt canning jar. It is helpful to tap jar lightly on a padded surface (towel on counter) as you layer ingredients to make all ingredients fit neatly. Use scissors to cut a 9 inch-diameter circle from fabric of your choice. Center fabric circle over lid and secure with a rubber band. Tie on a raffia or possibly ribbon bow to cover the rubber band. Attach a card with the following directions:Grandma's White Cake
  2. Remove top layer of sugar from jar and place into a large mixing bowl. Add in 1 c. Vegetable Oil (Grandma used lard :0) and 2 Large eggs, then cream together. Add in 1 c. Lowfat milk and 1 teaspoon Vanilla. Mix well, then add in remaining contents of jar and blend till smooth. Pour into a greased & floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan, and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 40 min, or possibly till a knife inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Cold, and frost as desired.
