Ingredients
- 1 lg. onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 lg. cans tomato sauce
- 1 c. water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Cook onion in a small amount of extra virgin olive oil till onion is golden brown but not brown. Add in garlic and saute/fry 3 min longer. Add in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, sugar, and spices; bring to a simmer very slow till the sauce is thick and a deep red. Serve with meatballs.
- Makes about 2 qts.
